🧩 Why AphasiaAid was created
Every app has a story. AphasiaAid began with one.
After my father suffered a stroke, he was diagnosed with aphasia. At first, we searched for ways to support his recovery at home. Unfortunately, the waiting time for speech therapy was long, and he only received two short per week.
In the meantime, we tried using a book from Amazon. However, he couldn’t practice alone. Moreover, we couldn’t find a German-language app that offered structured, motivating exercises.
Because of his right-hand paralysis, he struggled with fine motor control. Therefore, we needed large buttons, clear navigation, and simple instructions. Additionally, his concentration span was short, so the exercises had to be brief and effective.
Eventually, I decided to create AphasiaAid — a digital tool designed for people like him. Today, it helps others train independently, at their own pace, and without needing constant supervision.
In short, AphasiaAid was built out of necessity, shaped by experience, and refined with empathy.
